The instinct to fight hardest

When it gets heavy, the worst thing you can do is go quiet.

But that's exactly what you do. You stop texting back. You tell everyone you're fine. You let the friendships go a little dusty because you don't have the energy to explain — and honestly, carrying it alone feels stronger. More noble, even. It isn't. It's just lonelier.

When you look at who comes through a long hard stretch still standing, it isn't the toughest or the most independent. It's the ones who stayed connected — who leaned on people instead of away from them. Connection isn't a reward you get after the crisis ends. It's the thing that carries you through the middle of it. The hand you take doesn't make you weaker. It's load-bearing.

Send one honest text today. Not "I'm fine." One true line — "today was a lot" — to one person who'd want to know. You don't have to explain all of it. You just can't disappear.

Let one person in this week. That's the whole assignment. And if it helps, let it be me — reply with your one true line. See you next week.
